Join us for an intimate conversation with Kim Hawthorne, Actress and Crystle Roberson, Director on hit series -- Greenleaf. They will share insights about the dynamics on set, the relationship between actor and director and detailed strategies for executing projects in the film and television industry.
About Kim Hawthorne
Kim Hawthorne is a native of Newark, New Jersey. She portrays the indelible, Kerissa Greenleaf, on OWN’S drama series Greenleaf. Ms. Hawthorne began her lifelong passion of the arts at just 12 years-old, when she began studying opera. She went on to earn a classical music
scholarship to Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama. After graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre, she launched her professional career at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta under the tutelage of Kenny Leon. She later made her Broadway debut in New York performing the lead role of Queen in Cy Coleman and Ira Gasman’s musical, The Life.
Hawthorne has over 20 years’ experience on the big screen and television. Her feature film roles include the popular “The Chronicles of Riddick” and “Along Came a Spider.” She was a series regular on Louis C.K.’s first HBO show, “Lucky Louie” and she was nominated for Canada’s prestigious Leo Award for her role on Da Vinci’s Inquest. Most recently, Ms. Hawthorne has guest starred on Criminal Minds and is recurring on How To Get Away With Murder.
Ms. Hawthorne is the proud mother of two sons. When she is not acting she is managing her ready-to-wear head wrap line, The Regal Wrap™ and frequently engages in public speaking and hosting opportunities. She serves on the advisory board for Newark School of the Arts, is a mentor to aspiring actors training and coaching them through her mind renewal acting workshops.

About Crystle Roberson
Since being honored by Women in Film & Television Atlanta with the Woman to Watch Award in 2008, Crystle has been creating cinematic stories for all who wish to see. Crystle was awarded by HBO, Chase, and Kodak for her short film Next Door’s Next (2009), and has directed dozens more indie projects since - including Private Garden with Idris Elba, The Black Cage with Mykelti Williamson and The End Again with Columbus Short. Between films, she directs an urban improv comedy troupe for live shows around the South East. Crystle is a proud member of Yale University’s Storytellers in Modern Media Program. A 2018 Sony Pictures Director Program Participant, Crystle is a member of the Directors Guild of America and most recently directed episodes of Greenleaf and Ambitions for Lionsgate.
